"The first thing Ossway ever made was a door. Everything since has been the same argument — one side to hold, one side to open, and a hand to pull somebody through."
— House Ossway, on Pattern NineOne pike does one thing without apology. The other splits its head three ways and pays for every one of them.
The axis is shape. Halvard Pattern Six is a plain pike, built heavier than spec because Halvard builds everything heavier than spec — it plants and holds a line. Ossway Pattern Nine trades raw reach for a curved edge, a reverse spike, and a hook, none of them as large as they'd be alone.
Both cap at Calibrated — one property, no rider slot, no further advancement. Players should feel that ceiling around levels five to six. That pressure is the game asking them to look outward.
Plants and holds. The shod heel is made to go into the ground and stop anyone who enters your reach.
An edge for the crowd, a point for the one thing that gets through it, and a hook for the moment someone else is in trouble.
