A weapon in each hand, no heavy armor, no interest in a long fight. Overload forces raw aether through your system, past what a body is built to survive — while it holds you hit harder than anything on the field and shrug off blows that would drop a Vanguard. When it ends you take a level of Drift.
Drift is not fatigue. It's the word engineers use for a machine that still runs at full power and no longer does what you tell it. First you lose the ability to end an Overload early. Then to choose your target. Eventually to decide whether it starts at all. Your party will notice before you do.
Furycog
Escalation. Every hit builds toward the next, and the last moments of an Overload are the most dangerous thing on the field. The answer to anything that has to die before it acts again.
Ashwalker
Efficiency. Out of the deep Wastes where aether runs thin and there is no second chance. Takes Drift half as often, and is at their most capable where everyone else is struggling.
